There’s a thunderstorm going on at the moment – and I can count on one hand the number of thunderstorms I’ve had since arriving in UK! The air has that fantastic ozone smell and there’s thunder and black clouds! WhooHoo!

Of all the many things I miss about Australia I didn’t realise how much I miss thunderstorms until I went home for a visit and sat on my Mum’s back porch in country NSW through a whopper of a thunderstorm. It was fantastic! I remember lightning came down in the next field and made me tingle…

A storm in Sydney in 2004 – check out the size of that lightning bolt!

I love thunderstorms. The smell, the sound, the lightning. Someone once told me that the ozone smell is lead, as in lead the heavy metal that gives you lead poisoning.

If anyone can tell me what the smell actually is, I’d be really grateful.

I wish there were more thunderstorms in the UK.

Bugger. It’s stopped already.
